Collection: Spring 2025 Exhibit

We’re thrilled to introduce Ben Coffman as our newest featured resident artist at Slice of Light Gallery. Based in Portland, Oregon, Ben’s work masterfully blends traditional and experimental photography, offering a fresh perspective on the natural world. Using both unmodified and modified digital cameras, along with an array of filters, he captures landscapes in a way that transcends realism—revealing hidden movements, surreal colors, and breathtaking compositions. His images range from sweeping panoramas of the Pacific Northwest to intimate abstractions of light, texture, and time.

For this exhibit, we’ve carefully curated 14 images that showcase the depth of Ben’s vision. Among them, you’ll find dreamlike nightscapes featuring astronomical bodies, striking infrared compositions that reimagine familiar landscapes in ethereal hues, and powerful abstract works that transform natural elements into fine art. Whether it’s the otherworldly blues of Iceland’s ice caves, the high-contrast drama of Lassen’s volcanic slopes, or the vibrant glow of a Hawaiian rainbow eucalyptus, each piece invites the viewer into a world just beyond the reach of the ordinary.

Ben’s photography has earned him widespread recognition, including features on Bing’s Homepage, National Geographic’s National Parks App, and the cover of Via Magazine (AAA Travel). He has been a finalist in prestigious competitions such as the Smithsonian’s Annual Photo Contest and The World at Night’s Earth and Sky Photo Contest. His work isn’t just about capturing beautiful scenes—it’s about evoking wonder, preserving wild places, and inspiring a deeper appreciation for the landscapes we all share. We invite you to explore this special collection and experience the magic of Ben’s photography firsthand.
